Louis Van Gaal managed Team to get second Place in League

Louis Van Gaal has managed to guide the team to within two points of the second place in the league table. It is a vastly superior improvement compared to last season when United struggled to even enter into the top six on a consistent basis.

The tactics of the Dutchman, though, has come under criticism on a number of occasions this campaign. This includes the team’s increased long ball tactics, which does not fit into the ethos of the club. However, the fact that the club has been able to get a consistent run of results – including the 3-0 win over Tottenham last weekend – has managed to keep the fans quiet.

Van Gaal reckons that he will not be at the club if he senses for one moment that the players do not have belief in his methods. A serial winner with previous clubs like Barcelona and Bayern Munich, Van Gaal does not look set to end his first season at United with a trophy. This was after the club were knocked out of the FA Cup, which was seen as the realistic opportunity for a title this season, after a 2-1 defeat against Arsenal. United bounced back from this defeat in emphatic manner after beating Tottenham 3-0 at Old Trafford.

“When I think the chemistry between the players and the manager is not good enough anymore, then I go. I am in my first season here and I can still win the title, but that will probably go to Chelsea. What we have to do is continue in our process. But we have been in the top four longer than Arsenal this season. That is true. When I see this chemistry between myself and my players, then I don’t have any doubts.Of course, we have disappointing moments but we can survive and we have confidence to qualify for the Champions League,” said Van Gaal.
