Why should I do this? I feel that the best decisions are made by the voters when they have as much information as possible about the candidates. It is good for democracy; it is good for the city. I always felt when going to the ballot box that when I didn't know anything about the candidates that my vote was wasted, or worse, I might vote for the wrong person and help them get into office when I otherwise wouldn't want them there. I don't want that to happen to anyone in my area.
I would encourage each voter to carefully consider each candidate and what they claim to represesent, how they present themselves, what their qualifications are, why they are running, what they hope to accomplish, and how well they will function as part of a team (since we are a council, no single person can make any change to our city by themselves. We must learn to function as a team). It takes at least 4 votes to make anything happen. Call or e-mail the candidates. Ask them questions. Tell them what you are interested in and what they think about issues that are important to you. When you are done, you can go to the voting booth on September 11th and choose the candidate that you have the most confidence in who will take the city to the best place it can be.
Of course, as a candidate myself, I hope you will do the same for me. Please ask questions, make comments, call or e-mail me. The easiest way to do so is to click the contact me link on any page and just fill in the form. I will get back to all questions as quickly as I am able. If a question you ask is on many people's minds, I will post a comment here on my blog so it can be read by those who are interested in it like you are. Good luck in your search for the best candidate!
