Campaign Update - 4th of July Booth PDF Print E-mail

Come visit my booth on at the 4th of July Celebration on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday in Veterans Memorial Park. I will be there to answer questions, register people to vote, help people identify their voting district (anywhere in the city) and precinct, research questions, and look for supporters. I have bumper stickers and personal cooling mini-fans to give out for as long as they last for those who come by. I hope as you celebrate our nation's Independence Day with your family, you will stop by and say hello.

Organizing activities are continuing as I continue to ramp up for a busy campaign season. I have received some generous donations to help me get my campaign started and have begun ordering materials so I can get my message out to the voters as early as I can. A lot will depend on whether there is a primary in my district or not - the primary would be on September 11th, so there would only a few weeks between registration and the primary election. It will depend on how many people sign up to run. Otherwise, the general election is on November 6th.

People desiring to run just need to show up at the city recorder's office on the 3rd floor of city hall during business hours sometime between July 2nd and July 16th. I will be going in on the 2nd to sign my declaration of candidacy and will look forward to having a good, issue-centered race with whomever runs against me. Having a choice in candidates is always a good thing and is good for democracy, so I encourage any who feel they could work hard and put in the time to represent their fellow-citizens well to put their name on the line and campaign hard so the people will have the best choice possible.
