How can I get something on the agenda? PDF Print E-mail

The agenda is prepared by the City Manager's office. There are two ways to get an item placed on the agenda. First is to request the City Manager to place the item on the agenda. If the City Manager declines to do this, the second way is to get a City Council Member to sponsor your item and ask to have it placed on the agenda. If no council member is willing to sponsor the item, the other option you have is to come to city council meeting and speak about it during citizens' comments. This, however, will only allow you to speak about it and will not allow the city council to ask questions or respond to your questions, but it does allow the opportunity for the public to speak in a public setting where they know their elected officials will be in attendance.

Items placed on the agenda must be publicly noticed for no less than 24 hours before a council meeting. A good rule of thumb is to get a request for an agenda item to the City Manager's office or to a sponsoring Council Member at least 5 to 7 days before the meeting will be held to allow copies to be distributed to the council, the media, and the public libraries.
